Sock Drawer to Donate to Mental Health Group for ‘Socktober’
Happy Socktober! It’s the most wonderful time of year to be a sock fairy, because we’re proud to announce that all through the month of October, we’ll build up a portion of our proceeds from all the fun socks we sell to donate to a group that’s close to our hearts, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, or NAMI.
A network of grassroots organizations across all 50 states, NAMI does incredible work supporting those suffering from mental illness and their loved ones. At The Sock Drawer, we have a history of giving back to our community, and we are so pleased to contribute to NAMI with our Socktober fundraising efforts this year.

“Mental health is one of our top priorities here,” said Brooke English, owner and CEO of The Sock Drawer and queen of the sock fairies. “We work really hard to support each other as employees in this way, and we truly hope to bring people joy and connection through the products we sell, too. And this year, we really feel like it’s time to go the extra mile and to give back as much as we can.”
The Sock Drawer will contribute 1% of sales throughout the month to NAMI, so the more our customers buy this month, the more we can give! Socktober has traditionally been a time when groups around the country organize a variety of charitable events for causes such as homelessness relief, child services and more.
We sock fairies have chosen to donate to NAMI this year because we value the strong work they do reducing the stigma around mental illness and promoting joy and positivity. Mental Illness Awareness Week is also Oct. 4-10, and we thought that aligned nicely with our fun Socktober theme and our values.
“It’s hard to remember a time in recent history that has felt as stressful and divisive as 2020 has been,” Brooke said. “If there’s any way we can help people get through this time and maybe even put a smile on their faces here and there, we have to do it.”
And so, sock lovers, now is a perfect time to shop! We have been stocking up early this year on a huge variety of holiday styles, funny socks, quirky animal patterns and also lots of great non-sock items! Did you know we carry face masks now? Please consider checking out our selection, as lots of things may have changed since you last explored the drawer! We so appreciate your support as we build our Socktober donations!
